How long does it take to heat the Dining Stones?

How long does it take to freeze the Dining Stones?
It takes just one hour in the freezer to reach the right temperature to keep your salads crisp and your drinks icy. You can store your stones in the freezer continually so they are always ready.
What does it cost for shipping?
We have found that the best shipping prices are available through the United States Postal Service, 2-3 day delivery. For an estimate, click on the “Contact Us” tab and in the message area, provide the number of stones you are thinking of buying and the zip code.
Will the Dining Stones ever wear out?
If treated properly, they should last a lifetime. The first rule of thumb is: always let a hot stone return to room temperature before you chill it, and always let a cold stone return to room temperature before you heat it. If you don’t allow this transition, your stone could crack, just as a frozen casserole dish could crack if you placed it in a hot oven. (See FAQ about cleaning for further suggestions)
How many Dining Stones do you recommend for your
kitchen?
Each person dining at your table may want their own 9” Heating Stone with wooden tray holder and 6” Cooling Stone with wooden tray holder.
Of course, if you’re having a large salad and a bowl of soup for dinner, then your 6” stone could be used for the soup and the 9” stone to keep the salad chilled. This is the practical beauty of Dining Stones—they are versatile and interchangeable for a variety of uses.
How do I clean the Dining Stones and their trays?
In many cases, wiping the stone with a wet dishcloth or sponge will be sufficient. For greasy spills, you will want to use a grease cutting liquid to clean the surface before running through the dishwasher. Never heat your stone while greasy to avoid baking it in permanently.
Dishwasher instructions: Once the stone reaches room temperature, remove from its holder by pushing up through the 1-inch cutout in the bottom of the tray. You may place it in the dishwasher on its side, like a stacked plate, and run through your regular cycle along with your dirty dishes.
Safety tip: Always wait until the stone has returned to room temperature before removing it from its wooden tray holder. This will protect you and those around you from possible burns.
Important note: To prevent possible cracking, allow time for your Dining Stone to dry out before freezing it, and never immerse a cold stone in hot water or a hot stone in cold water. Sudden changes of temperature could damage your stone. By protecting your Dining Stones, they will serve your family for a lifetime.
The wooden trays are finished with a protective coating, which makes them water-resistant, so they can be conveniently wiped clean with a wet dishcloth. Never use soap or immerse your wooden tray in water or place them in a dishwasher.
Can I heat more than one stone at a time?
Yes, you can heat four or even eight in the oven and up to four in a toaster oven, using both racks and stacking two at a time. Stack smooth sides together and/or rough sides together.
What are some additional uses for Dining Stones?
Heated stones: hors d’oeuvres, appetizers, soups and chowders, stews, hot sandwiches like a Panini or Reuben, casseroles, melted cheese dip, meat or fish serving dishes, veggie serving dishes, hot coffee mug, hot tea or cider mug, chili, hot apple pie, pizza, oatmeal, a bowl of biscuits or muffins, or a dish of cinnamon rolls.
Cold stones: iced drinks, smoothies, chilled wines, ice cream, fresh cut veggies, meat and cheese platter, sour cream based dips, under a pitcher of iced drink, taco salad, pasta salads, coleslaw, Jell-O salads, veggie salads, fruit salads, potato salads, salsa, or ice cream cake.
Kitchen accent: to hold a bottle of wine and glasses, to display a vase of flowers or bowl of fruit, or to rest gently under colorful mixing bowls.
How do you recommend storing your Dining Stones?
If used as a kitchen accent, you can display Dining Stones beneath a wine bottle or vase of flowers to add rustic charm to any kitchen. You may want to keep your smaller Dining Stones in the freezer so they’re always ready for use. The others can remain stacked in their tray holders like dishes. Rubber stops on the bottom of the trays prevent them from scratching when stacked.

A fully heated stone can radiate through your dinner plate up to 45 minutes.
